Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr is set to sign a contract to become the Head Coach of the Benin Republic Men's National Team.

A Source disclosed to BRL that the Franco-German tactician is a top choice for the vacant position and has been contacted by the Beninese Football Authority led by Mathurin de Chachus, and the Minister for Sports Hoswald Homkey.

A final meeting has been scheduled for this weekend and Rohr is expected to sign his contract.

Rohr has been out of the job since his dismissal as Super Eagles.

He spent five–and a–half years with the three-time African Champions and led the team to a third-place finish at the 2019 African Cup of Nations.

He also guided the team to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia, where the team failed to advance to the round of 16.

The former Bayern Munich defender once managed Gabon, Niger Republic, and Girondins Bordeaux.
