Genk fortunate to beat Club Brugge — Onuachu

Paul Onuachu believes Genk’s victory against Club Brugge is key to their title ambition.

Onuachu scored once as Genk thrashed their rivals 3-1 at the Cegaka Arena on Sunday.

“I said in advance that it was a crucial game. This game gives us a mental boost to start the busy period now,” it sounds.

Club Brugge took the lead after 16th minutes, but Genk hit back through Bryan Heymen and Paul Onuachu minutes later, before Noah Lang missed golden opportunity to restore parity for the visitors.

Genk later scored their third of the game in the second half, and Onuachu believes his side were fortunate to win the game.

“We were lucky there”, the Genk players realize all too well.

“But we dominated in the second half. Their chances were more counters instead of played chances and you will always get them.”

Genk now the favorites to win the title, with current champions Club Brugge 15 points behind the leaders.
