Fenerbahce and Galatasaray have joined the race to sign Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton Wanderers, as interest in the forward intensifies ahead of the summer transfer window.
Turkish transfer journalist Ekrem Konur reported on X that both Istanbul giants are monitoring the 25-year-old, with a loan deal considered the most realistic option for Turkish clubs.
“Fenerbahçe monitoring Wolves striker Tolu Arokodare. Galatasaray also interested. Loan deal seen as more realistic for Turkish clubs,” Konur wrote.
Fenerbahce are already understood to have placed Arokodare on their shortlist as they look to strengthen their attack for next season. According to Turkish outlet A Spor, the club have shifted their transfer focus to England in search of attacking reinforcements.
“Fenerbahçe, which wants to strengthen its squad ahead of the new season, has turned its transfer focus to England for its attacking line,” A Spor reported.
“The yellow and navy blues are interested in Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare, who plays for Wolverhampton Wanderers.”
Wolverhampton’s precarious position in the English Premier League could also influence negotiations, with the club sitting bottom of the table after a difficult campaign. Their struggles have raised the possibility of squad changes, and Turkish clubs are closely tracking developments around Arokodare’s future.
Reports also suggest that Besiktas remain strongly positioned in the race, with the club previously exploring ways to strengthen their case for the striker.
Beşiktaş are reportedly involving influential Nigerian figures, including former international Daniel Amokachi and current Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, as part of efforts to persuade Arokodare to make the switch to Istanbul. The club believe both figures could help present the move as both professionally attractive and culturally familiar.
“Daniel Amokachi, who played for Beşiktaş between 1996 and 2000, will serve as a reference for Tolu Arokodare. He is among the unforgettable names in Nigerian football and will play a role in persuading Arokodare,” SporX reported.
Arokodare, who joined Wolves from Genk in a €26m deal last summer, is contracted until 2029 but is believed to be open to a move if the right opportunity arises.
He has scored six goals and provided two assists in 32 appearances this season, although Wolves’ struggles have limited his overall impact.
