Free-scoring Moffi regains form despite Nice’s loss

Super Eagles’ attacker, Terem Moffi broke his three-match goal drought for Nice with a stellar performance against Toulouse but his team lost the game 2-1.

The Super Eagles forward, who had been enduring a dry spell in front of goal, found his scoring touch in the eighth minute.

Prior to his goal on yesterday, Moffi’s last scoring moment for his club occurred on December 20, 2023, when he netted a brace against Lens, just before departing for AFCON duty.

The goal not only relieved the pressure on him but also provided a much-needed boost for his team.

Moffi has been a key contributor for Nice this season, showcasing his scoring prowess in 20 appearances for the club as he was rated 7.2 in yesterday’s Ligue 1 match.

The striker has found the back of the net seven times, demonstrating his clinical finishing and ability to capitalize on scoring opportunities.

In addition to his goal-scoring exploits, Moffi has also been instrumental in setting up his teammates, providing three assists over the course of the campaign.

In another French Ligue game, Akor Adams failed to score again but Montpellier drew 2-2 with Strasbourg. Adams has played in 22 games and has scored seven goals. He was removed in the 81st minute.

Super Eagles winger, Moses Simon featured in his 20th game of the season for Nantes but they lost the fixture 2-0 at home to Metz. Simon has scored three goals with five assists.

Elsewhere in Germany, Bayer Leverkusen extended their lead atop the German Bundesliga to 10 points with 64 points from 24 games following their 2-0 away win at FC Cologne.

Super Eagles attacker, Nathan Tella came on in the 46th minute as a replacement for Jeremie Frimpong. Frimpong scored one of the goals. Recuperating Super Eagles attacker, Victor Boniface is also a player of Xabi Alonso led Bayer Leverkusen. Boniface is currently out injured.

In Belgium, Tolu Arokodare did not add to his eight goals from 27 games. His club, Genk were beaten 3-0 at home by Club Brugge which had Super Eagles midfielder, Raphael Onyedika in the game for them.

Victor Ilenikhena who has seven goals from 26 games; Chidera Ejuke; Victor Udoh and Alhassan Yusuf.

Ejuke scored once and had an assist too in the vital win. He has played 19 games with three goals and three assists while Yusuf has also featured in 18 games with two assists.

In Switzerland, former junior international, Ifeanyi Matthew notched his second goal of the season in their 1-0 win over Swiss League leaders, Young Boys. Matthew scored in the first minute of the game.

The win has taken FC Zurich to the third spot with 42 points from 26 games behind Young Boys (51 points) and Servette (50 points).

In Italy, Tyronne Ebuehi was absent as Cagliari pipped Empoli 1-0.
