Former Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah broke down in tears when paying tribute to Christian Atsu.

Atsu met his untimely death during the devastating 7.8 magnitude earthquake which caused his residence to collapse.

The former Chelsea and Newcastle winger was found dead on February 18 under a building in southern Turkey.

Footballers, family members and sympathizers of Atsu gathered in his family house to pay tribute to the ex-Chelsea and FC Porto winger.

Atsu's former colleague at Ghana's senior national team, Kwadwo Asamoah, was also in attendance, and the ex-Juventus midfielder could not hold back his tears.

Asamoah was visibly shedding tears as he talked about Atsu in an interview with Sports Brief.

Despite mustering the courage to share some kind words about the former Newcastle forward, Asamoah couldn't fight back the tears when talking about how Atsu's philanthropic works inspired him.

Asamoah and former Ghana captain Stephen Appiah gathered at the family house of Atsu on Wednesday, February 22 to commiserate.

The duo visited along with former Ghana international, Rabiu Mohammed, Derek Boateng and Jerry Akaminko to mourn the passing of their ex-teammate.
