Former Italian international likens Osimhen to Cavani

Former Italian international Riccardo Bigon has drawn comparisons between Victor Osimhen and Uruguayan international Edison Cavani.

Osimhen has been flying high since joining the Naples-based side in 2020 for a club-record fee of €70 million potentially rising to €80 million with add-ons.

The 24-year-old has been instrumental in Napoli's impressive campaign this season which has seen them open a seven-point gap at the top of Serie A.

The Super Eagles striker is also the leading top scorer in Serie A with 10 goals.

Osimhen's remarkable form has drawn praise from fans and football enthusiasts in Italy and the world over, and the ex-former Hellas Verona Sporting Director is the latest to extol the Nigerian international.

Bigon in a chat with Radio Kiss Kiss Napoli likened Osimhen's technical abilities to that of ex-Napoli and Paris Saint-German striker Edison Cavani.

“In this Naples, I see a charismatic and technical leader: Victor Osimhen. From a character point of view, due to the desire he has to win and to chase after his opponents, he reminds me of Cavani.”

Osimhen will be in action when Napoli lock horns with Juventus in the Serie A on Friday, January 13 at the Diego Armando Maradona Stadium.
