Flying Eagles beat Junior Chipolopolo of Zambia in Pre-Afcon game

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria proved their readiness for the U20 Africa Cup of Nations with 4-2 win over Zambia on Friday night.

The friendly against the Junior Chipolopolo, played at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium was part of the team’s preparation for the tournament in Egypt.

After the opening exchanges from both sides, the deadlock was broken in the 38th minutes with the Flying Eagles getting the first goal.

The second half saw a much improved Zambian side searching for an equalizer, which arrived in the 55th minute.

Amon Chulu tapped home to make it 1-1 after a defensive error.Flying Eagles went back in front in the 63rd minute when Solomon Agbalaka’s pin-point cross from the left corner was headed home by Remo Stars winger Adams Olamilekan.

Zambian responded quickly and drew level once again. A lovely corner kick taken by Henry Mbuti was converted by Lasmond Phiri.

The Flying Eagles showed their superiority with few minutes left as substitute Emmanuel Uchebu scored Nigeria’s third goal from a simple tap-in.

Another late substitute Samuel Lawal also got in on the goal action, with the team’s fourth, to seal victory for Bosso’s side.The 2023 Africa U20 Cup of Nations is scheduled to take place in Egypt from February 19 to March 11.
