Moffi just sealed a big move to Nice on deadline day, and his former national team boss believes the move will yield results

Former Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has revealed that Terem Moffi’s mix of intelligence, pace, and power would help him succeed at his new club Nice.

Moffi has had an awesome season, scoring twelve goals in 18 appearances for Lorient. His displays attracted interest from Premier League clubs Southampton, West Ham, and Everton.

Even Ligue 1 giants Marseille and Lyon wanted his services. But Moffi opted for a move to Nice instead.

Former Super Eagles boss Rohr was coach at Nice between 2002 and 2005, and he is happy with Moffi’s decision to join Les Aiglons. He handed Moffi his Super Eagles debut in 2021, and he believes the 23-year-old Nigerian striker will succeed at the club.

“I’m happy for Moffi because he’s doing a wonderful season and because he’s going to my former club which is Nice,” Rohr told NationSport.

“In fact, some people from Nice asked me about him before doing the transfer and he really deserves this transfer for all his qualities.”

The 69-year-old tactician who has failed to get a job since he was dismissed by Nigeria also explained some of Moffi’s characteristics that would help him succeed at Nice.

“Moffi is a powerful, quick, very realistic striker, good with the head and wonderful shooting

“The €30m paid by Nice to get Moffi from Lorient is good for him because he is still young.”

“I’m very sure that he will progress in this wonderful environment in Nice because this is one of the best clubs in France now.
“The city also has very good weather with good conditions throughout the year; not so much cold or rain which is good for an African player,” Rohr added.

Moffi will get a baptism of fire at Nice, as he is set to make his debut in his side’s next game against Marseille.

The former KV Kortrijk man will face his former team on the 19th of March.
