Eto’o, Drogba, Okocha and other legendary footballers to unite for charity match in Abuja

Former African footballing icons, Didier Drogba, Samuel Eto'o, Emmanuel Adebayor and Emmanuel Eboue, will be among the stars who will grace the Federal Capital Territory for a charity football match.

The Attom Foundation, spearheading the event, has also promised the attendance of other retired icons, including Nwankwo Kanu and Austin “Jay-Jay” Okocha.

As outlined by the organisers at a press gathering in Lekki, Lagos, the Charity Champions’ Cup match, slated for June 15, will focus on generating funds for charitable causes within the country.

Scheduled to take place at the Moshood Kashimawo Abiola National Stadium in Abuja, the foundation aims to treat over 10,000 visually impaired people.

The founder, Yahaya Attom, stressed that the establishment stemmed from a commitment to supporting the underprivileged in society.

“This initiative embodies the essence of our foundation, uniting legendary footballers, celebrities and individuals from all walks of life to tackle a critical healthcare need which is eye care for the elderly in Nigeria,” he said, as quoted by Complete Sports.

In addition to the illustrious lineup of football legends, the match will also feature current Super Eagles stars, including Napoli's Victor Osimhen, the Leicester City duo of Wilfred Ndidi and Kelechi Iheanacho, and Kasımpaşa's Kenneth Omeruo. Two Super Falcons players, Asisat Oshoala and Michelle Alozie, have also been included.

As reported by Sports Ration, Tiwa Savage, Ayo Makun, Akpororo, and other Nigerian celebrities will also be grace the event.
