Eric Chelle has warned that the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) must be ready to pay off the remainder of his contract if they relieve him of his duties as head coach of the Super Eagles.

The Malian tactician disclosed this while reacting to rumours surrounding his potential dismissal following the elimination of the Super Eagles B team from the African Nations Championship.

Nigeria crashed out of the competition after losing their first two matches to Senegal and Sudan.

The team's disappointing campaign has raised questions over Chelle's ability to lead the Super Eagles to secure a FIFA World Cup ticket, with the qualifiers resuming in the next two weeks.

“I have heard a lot of stories about them wanting to sack me and replace me with someone else. I have heard about that,” Chelle told journalist Osasu Obayiuwana.

“I know quite well that I can be fired after one match. This is life in football, but if they decide to do that, they must be prepared to pay up the remainder of my contract.”
