Nigerian-born New Zealand professional mixed martial artist, Israel Adesanya has urged fans trolling him on social media that his silence on the End SARS protest doesn't mean he isn't against the use of brute force by the police special force, SARS on young Nigerians.

This comes after some fans called him out on social media for his silence on the protest which has turned sour since it began barely 3 weeks ago.

Reacting, Adesanya said he will only use his platform responsibly.

Nigerian youths have taken to the street to condemn police brutality calling for total reforms of the police service in the country, Legit said.

The situation got heightened on October 20 when unknown gunmen were seen in a clip firing at unarmed protesters at the Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos, leaving an unconfirmed number of causalities.

And several sportsmen across the globe have lent their voice to support the protests including boxing champion Anthony Joshua.

Some social media users took their time to urge UFC champion, Israel Adesanya to condemn police brutality, however, the 31-year-old says he does not just respond anyhow.

“They said I don’t care about Nigerians. I even cut my holiday short just to show up. “I don’t like to react, I respond now. The same energy you spend cussing me is the same energy you could use to cuss those actually killing us, he wrote on Twitter.

“I am just a man with a platform and I use it responsibly. 20/10/2020, I’ll never forget!"

Recall that he recently retained the UFC middleweight championship following a unanimous point decision over Yoel Romero.

The fight went the distance as all three judges scored the fight in favor of Adesanya who fought with caution all night.

Romero adopted an orthodox style in the first round, standing still and waiting for the Style Bender to come towards him before he strikes.

The 'Soldier of God' scored a point when he countered Adesanya which caught him the eye.

The champion was stable and more calculated in his attack, scoring a high-kick into the head of Romero to win it.
