Argentina's Lionel Messi became arguably the greatest player of all time after he finally picked up the elusive world cup trophy on Sunday, December 18.
The Paris Saint Germain star has won all major footballing trophies except the world cup. And he put the argument to rest on his status as the greatest when he placed lifted it in Qatar.
Following the victory, global personalities, athletes, world leaders, and fans to social media to celebrate with the 35-year-old.
Barack Obama in a post on his official Twitter page wrote: "Congrats to Argentina and to the GOAT, Lionel Messi, for an amazing World Cup victory."
While the messages continue to pour in social media, it has taken a different twist on Nigeria's Twitter after an interesting post by Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A photo in the tweet has generated some mixed reactions. Messi, in a photoshopped photo, could be spotted with the signature hat of the APC presidential candidate.
The tweet was accompanied by the caption: "Emi lo kan of Doha"
As some of his followers applaud the former Lagos State governor for the post, others, from the competing political parties have downplayed the photo and even criticized him.
