Super Eagles defender, William Troost-Ekong says the team is ready to lock horns with a Cameroon side who are ready to avenge their recent defeats against the Super Eagles when they clash in Friday’s friendly in Austria.

The Super Eagles will play against Cameroon in Austria in a doubleheader. The Indomitable Lions will host the 2021 AFCON, will hope to record a first win against the Eagles since the final of the AFCON 2000.

In their last six clashes against Cameroon the Eagles have won five and drawn just one.

In their most recent meetings, the Eagles eliminated the five-time African champions during the 2018 World Cup qualifiers and also in the quarterfinals of the 2019 AFCON, complete sports said.

“It’s going to be a difficult game,” Troost-Ekong told Super Eagles Media after Thursday’s training session.

“I think we played them a lot in the last couple of years and they’ve always been a difficult opponent.

“They would be a team that wants to get revenge against us because we knocked them out of the World Cup  (2018 qualifiers) and at the AFCON we did the same thing.

“It’s going to be a difficult game and the boys are ready to have a good fight and enjoy the game, show ourselves, see what we can do and make sure we finish the season on a high.”

Troost-Ekong, who helped Watford gain promotion to the Premier League, described training so far as good as they look ahead to an interesting game.

He added:”It has been good we’ve got a lot of new faces in camp and we hope to have a good game.

“It’s good to see we have a great team spirit so we are happy to be here.”
