Eagles bright start to AFCON qualifiers campaign thrills Peseiro

Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro has expressed his satisfaction with Nigeria's 2023 AFCON qualifiers campaign thus far.

The Portuguese trainer has guided the Eagles to victory in their first two qualifier matches against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome and Principe.

The three-time African champions came from behind to beat the Leone Stars 2-1 at the national stadium in Abuja on Thursday, June 9.

The 62-year-old led the Super Eagles to run riot against Sao Tome and Principe by 10-0 at the Stade de Adrar stadium in Agadir, Morocco.

Nigeria now sits at the apex of group A with a maximum of six points plus 11 goals, two points more than Guinea-Bissau who occupies second place with 4 points.

The former Sporting Lisbon manager has taken to his official Twitter handle to express his delight with the Super Eagles' brilliant start to their AFCON qualifier campaign.

''We achieved our goal of points won, grew as a group and conquered a historical record, always based on fundamental values: team spirit and mutual help.

We made the Nigerian nation proud. We are focused on improving our work to achieve our goals. @NGSuperEagles #SoarSuperEagles'' He tweeted.

The Eagles will return to action in a double-header against Guinea-Bissau in September.
