Former Super Eagles midfielder Mikel Obi has issued a stern warning to his former club, Chelsea, ahead of their crucial Premier League clash against Liverpool this weekend.
Both Chelsea and Liverpool will be looking to bounce back to winning ways after suffering defeats to Brighton & Hove Albion and Crystal Palace, respectively.
The Blues, in particular, have come under enormous pressure after failing to pick up a win in their last three Premier League matches against Brentford, Manchester United, and Brighton.
Speaking after the Blues’ poor showing against Brighton, the former Chelsea midfielder warned that the Blues' defence will struggle against Liverpool's attack in the absence of Levi Colwill.
“Going forward, we can score goals, we can create chances, we’re brilliant, but Colwill’s absence is telling at the back. There’s no one to cover for him because of his injury.
“We’re so weak in that position, and now, Chalobah is set to miss the game against Liverpool. We’re not in a good place. Strikers win you games, and defenders win you titles.
“We will struggle. Once we go down to ten men, there’s not much you can do again. Eight points from six games. We’ve given away too many red cards. Not good enough.”
