Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has expressed great disappointment at his side’s failure to see out their game against bottom side Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League.
The Gunners once again dropped two crucial points in their quest to end their over two-decade wait for the Premier League title.
Bukayo Saka and Piero Hincapié gave the Gunners a 2–0 lead, but Arteta’s side were pegged back after Hugo Bueno reduced the deficit in the 61st minute, with Tom Edozie landing the decisive blow in stoppage time to hold the Gunners to a 2–2 draw.
A victory for Manchester City against Newcastle United on Thursday will see the gap reduced to two points, with Arsenal scheduled for a trip to the Etihad later in the title race.
Speaking in his post-match press conference, Arteta admitted that the result was a big blow to the team.
“Very tough to accept,” the Spanish manager told Sky Sports.
“In the second half, we did not perform in the way we should and the way we need to in order to win a Premier League match.
“It is better not to judge it; we are all too emotional about it. You have to take the hit because we deserve it.
“It is very easy with emotion to say things that can damage the team.
“You have to go through tough periods. Today, at the last minute, we paid the price. We have to do basic things much better than we have done.”
