Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has expressed great excitement after winning the Man of the Match award in Fulham's victory over Spurs in the Premier League.
The 26-year-old starred as the Cottagers secured a 2-1 victory away at Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday, November 29.
It was the Nigerian international's first Premier League start, and he seized the opportunity with aplomb.
Chukwueze assisted Kenny Tete for Fulham's first goal in the fourth minute after brilliant work on the left channel, before Harry Wilson doubled the lead for Marco Silva's side two minutes later.
Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus pulled a goal back for Thomas Frank's side in the 59th minute, but it was not enough as Fulham won the London Derby.
Speaking in his post-match reaction, Chukwueze acknowledged his difficult start to life at Fulham while describing his Man of the Match performance as unexpected.
“I wasn’t expecting it today. But I was focusing on doing the hard work,” Chukwueze told Sky Sports.
“The last few months have been a bit difficult, but I kept my head down and kept working, and I took the opportunity today.
“They push me really hard in training and keep me motivated. We are so proud of the result today. We worked for it on the training pitch.
“The players gave everything on the field. We had to defend with all our lives. This win is very, very important.”
