Dortmund coach downplays controversy over Yousouffa Moukoko’s age

Youssoufa Moukoko’s age has been called into question by German publication Bunte, which suggested the Borussia Dortmund striker could be four years older than he claims.

The report cited a birth certificate that apparently showed a Youssoufa Mohamadou was born in Yaounde, Cameroon, on July 19, 2000, to a father named Ousman Mohamadou.

Moukoko’s official birth date is November 20, 2004, and it has been previously reported that he lived with his grandparents in Cameroon for around a decade before moving to Germany to be with his father.

Dortmund coach Edin Terzic said he had not discussed the matter with the player and had not seen the Bunte article.

“I don’t read Bunte. I exchange ideas with him intensively, I have never spoken to him about that. I can’t confirm that it bothers him. The nasty foul in Bremen puts a strain on him.”

Moukoko is currently recovering from injury and is expected to be available after the international break.

“He’s doing well in rehab, improving his performance and feeling better. We hope he will be available to us after the international break.”

Dortmund are level on points with Bayern Munich at the top of the Bundesliga with 11 games remaining.
