'Difficult times' — Moffi breaks silence on frustrating 2024/25 campaign

Super Eagles forward Terem Moffi has opened up on the emotional and physical toll of his injury-hit 2024/25 season at French Ligue 1 club OGC Nice, describing it as one of the most difficult periods of his career.

In a candid question-and-answer session with fans via his Instagram story, the 26-year-old responded to a question about the most challenging moment of his professional journey.

Moffi, who missed the majority of the season due to an anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus tear, did not mince words in describing the ordeal.

“Getting an ACL and a meniscus surgery has to top the list. Difficult times,” Moffi admitted.

“Personally, I accepted it, took everything day by day. Some days were frustrating. I had good people around me as well, and my faith helped me a lot. A lot to say, but I will keep it brief.”

The Nigerian striker, who joined Nice permanently in July 2023 after an initial loan from FC Lorient, suffered the knee injury during training in late July 2024, shortly after a preseason friendly against Spanish side Leganés.

The setback kept him out for 243 days, during which he missed 37 matches for the club.

Prior to this, Moffi had enjoyed a largely injury-free career, with only one other notable absence in the past five seasons, an ankle knock in October 2022 that sidelined him for two weeks.

Following a lengthy rehabilitation process, Moffi made his long-awaited return to competitive action on March 29 2025, playing the final eight minutes in a 2–1 defeat against Monaco.

He was gradually reintegrated into the squad and went on to make four more substitute appearances in Ligue 1 before the season concluded, scoring once in Nice’s emphatic 6–0 win over Brest in the last match of the season.
