Dessers open for Genk exit

Genk forward, Cyriel Dessers have not ruled out the possibility of leaving the club despite his impressive start to the 2022/2023 season.

The Nigerian international continues to prove that his performance in last season's Conference League was no fluke.

The 27-year-old has so far scored 3 goals in 2 Belgium Pro League matches after his recent double against Standard Liege on Sunday, July 31.

He was also on target during Genk's 3-2 defeat to Club Brugge in their Pro League opener.

Speaking to the media after Sunday's triumph, the ex-Feyenoord attacker disclosed that he is open to a move abroad even though he is happy at the club.

“I’m really enjoying myself here, with this team and this coach (Wouter Vrancken), who makes a great impression on me, Dessers was quoted by Voetbak Premieur.

“But yes, I am 27-years-old, I still have two years on my contract. Maybe now is the time to take the step abroad, although I don’t decide on that alone.”

The Super Eagles forward has been linked with a move to FC Copenhagen and newly promoted Serie A side Cremonese.
