Dutch-born Nigerian forward Cyriel Dessers scored twice as Feyenoord defeated French giants Olympique Marseille by 3 goals to 2 in the first leg of the Europa Conference League semi-finals.

The Eredivisie side welcomed the Ligue 1 side at De Kuip stadium in Rotterdam on Thursday night.

A brace from the Nigerian striker ensured that Feyenoord take a one goal advantage to France for the second leg.

Dessers put his side ahead in the 18th minute and scored another just nine seconds into second half to put Feyenoord ahead by 3 goals to 2 after Marseille has fought back from two goals down.

The 27-year-old has now scored 10 goals in Europe’s third tier maiden competition and 16 goals in all competitions for ‘The Club on the Meuse’.

He is now the leading top scorer in the Europa Conference League with 10 goals to his credit, two more than Roma’s Tammy Abraham.
