Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen has extended his heartfelt condolences to teammates Samuel Chukwueze and Wilfred Ndidi following the recent passing of their parents.

On Tuesday, January 7, news emerged that Ndidi’s father, Sunday Ndidi, had passed away after being hit by a car in the town of Umunede, near Agbor, Delta State.

The Nigeria Football Federation issued a statement afterwards, offering their condolences to the Super Eagles star.

“This is very sad. The player just gave his very best to the nation at the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Morocco where we finished with the bronze medals,” the NFF wrote.

“He had returned to Turkey with great motivation and high hopes of helping his club to win silverware this season, and also help the Super Eagles reach new heights this year.

“We are really shocked at the moment and cannot say much, but we earnestly pray for the repose of the soul of Mr. Sunday Ndidi and pray that the Almighty God will comfort our team captain, his siblings, relations and indeed all those he has left behind.”

While the Nigerian football community was still reeling from this loss, news broke on Thursday that Chukwueze had also lost his mother after a brief illness.

Both players shared exceptionally close bonds with their parents. Ndidi famously performed an Nwankwo Kanu-style celebration to honor his father during the recently concluded 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.

Similarly, Chukwueze has long featured a photo of his mother as his Instagram profile picture and has partnered with her on various charitable initiatives in their native.

Given these deep connections, both players are undoubtedly going through a period of profound grief. As tributes pour in from across the globe, Osimhen is the latest to offer his support publicly.

Victor Osimhen’s Message of Support

Taking to social media to stand in solidarity with his “brothers,” the Galatasaray star shared a touching message:

”Dear brothers, Chukwueze and Ndidi, may God grant your parents eternal peace and give you the strength and comfort needed during this difficult time.”

While these losses will certainly weigh heavily on the stars in the coming weeks, the football world hopes they find solace in their memories and eventually return to the pitch with renewed strength.
