Players and officials of Nigeria Professional Football League side, Lobi Stars, have all tested negative for COVID-19.

The former NPFL champions had tested all non-playing staff of the team as well as players in preparation for the resumption of the 2020/21 league season.

In a chat with our correspondent, the media officer of the club, Austin Tyowua, said all the players and officials of the club tested negative after the result of the tests carried out were released.

“The results are out and I’m happy to tell you that they were all negative. From here, we’ll move into closed camping. Newly signed players will also be tested when they arrive at the club. We are taking all the necessary precautions to ensure that our players are well protected,” he said.

Kwara United have also carried out COVID-19 tests on players and staff of the club while Akwa United have decontaminated the team’s camp in compliance with COVID-19 guidelines, as they await the official announcement of the resumption date for the 2020/21 NPFL season.

The 2019/20 NPFL season was suspended in March as a result of the outbreak of the coronavirus before being canceled in July by the Nigeria Football Federation.
