Nigeria's athletic duo of Favour Ashe and Raymond Ekevwo have won their respective 100m heat event at the 2022 Commonwealth Games currently underway in Birmingham.

Nigeria's fastest man, Ashe won heat one with a time of 10.12s.

Ekevwo also clocked 10.14s in heat four.

The duo have secured automatic qualification to the semis of the men's 100m.

Heat six saw Godson Oghenebrume finish in third place with a time of 10.36s.

Oghenebrume also qualified for the semis but had to wait for the other heat events to end before getting his passing as one of the non-automatic qualifiers.

Oghenebrume was initially disqualified after a false start but was later reinstated.

Nigeria stands a great chance of winning a medal, with three athletes competing in the semis on Wednesday (tomorrow) August, 3.
