Lionel Messi is set to face his former club Paris Saint-Germain in the round of 16 of the FIFA Club World Cup following Inter Miami's 2-2 draw against Palmeiras in their last group game.

Javier Mascherano's side threw away a two-goal lead with ten minutes left to play as the Brazilian side staged a remarkable comeback to tie the game.

Tadeo Allende gave Miami the lead in the 16th minute against the run of play before Luis Suárez doubled the lead with a brilliant solo effort in the 65th minute.

Paulinho began the comeback in the 80th minute before Mauricio scored the equalizer seven minutes later.

The result leaves Inter Miami in second position in Group A behind Palmeiras on goal difference.

This means the MLS side will meet European champions PSG, who finished as winners in Group B.
