Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi scored the equalizer for Everton in their 2-2 draw against Leicester City at the King Power Stadium, Soccernet.ng reports.

Super Eagles striker Kelechi Iheanacho was ruled out of Leicester City’s clash against Everton on Monday, but Wilfred Ndidi was included in the starting eleven after missing out on a starting shirt in their last two games.

Iwobi was on the other end for Everton, keeping his midfield role. The tie was explosive from the start with chances flying in at both ends of the pitch. Everton eventually profited from it, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored from the penalty spot in the 15th minute.

However, Leicester City quickly fired back with Caglar Soyuncu and Jamie Vardy scoring in the 22nd and 33rd minutes. Iwobi was at fault for the Foxes’ second goal, as he lost the ball which led to Leicester City’s attack. James Madison even missed a penalty kick that could have put the game to bed.

Nonetheless, Iwobi redeemed himself in the second half, scoring in the 54th minute to make it 2-2.

Ndidi had a decent showing. The Super Eagles midfielder registered 41 touches, two accurate long balls, two successful dribbles, and three clearances. He was taken off in the 61st minute for Patson Daka.

Iwobi could have scored six minutes from time after he went on a solo run, but his shot was deflected off-target. Asides from his goal, he had a very good outing. He had 66 touches, three key passes, and five tackles.

The game ended 2-2, and it leaves both teams still fighting to stay in the Premier League. Everton have 29 points and sit 19th, while Leicester City are 16th with 30 points.
