Chukwueze makes Amorim’s pre-season squad

Super Eagles winger Samuel Chukwueze has been included in AC Milan’s 26-man squad for the opening phase of the club’s pre-season preparations under new coach Ruben Amorim.

The Rossoneri will begin training at the Milanello training centre on Monday (today), with Amorim set to assess his squad before making further decisions on arrivals and departures ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Chukwueze, who returned from a loan spell, has been handed an opportunity to impress the Portuguese tactician as he bids to secure his place in Milan’s plans for the new campaign.

The 27-year-old’s inclusion comes amid uncertainty over his long-term future at San Siro, with the Nigerian previously linked with a move away after struggling for regular playing time.

However, Amorim is understood to value the winger’s pace, versatility and ability to stretch defences, raising hopes that he could play a more prominent role under the new manager if he impresses during pre-season.

“There are some players who weren’t here last year. Chukwueze is staying with us; we need players who can play one-on-one,” Amorim said via SempreMilan.

Also returning from loan and hoping to convince Amorim are Francesco Camarda and Yunus Musah, while new signing Mario Gila has been drafted straight into the squad following his move from Lazio.

Young talents Aurelien Guernier, who recently joined from Birmingham City, striker Andrej Kostic and midfielder Christian Comotto are also among the players selected for the first phase of pre-season.

Portugal international Goncalo Ramos has not yet linked up with the squad as he remains on holiday following his country’s participation at the FIFA World Cup.

Meanwhile, Kevin Zeroli has been left out after finishing last season with Juve Stabia in the Serie B promotion play-offs and is expected to leave the club permanently. Warren Bondo is also not in Amorim’s plans and will train separately until he secures a move away.
