Chuba Akpom extends lead on goalscorer's chart in Boro win over Queen Park Rangers

Chuba Akpom increased his tally in English Championship to 18goals with a brace against Queen Park Rangers on Saturday.

The forward struck twice to guide Boro to 3-1 win over visiting Rangers at the Rivers Side.Akpom, who is also the Championship POTM for January for the number of goals he scored, got his first in the match against QPR in the 64th minute, after being teed up by Daniel Barlaser.

Middlesbrough were awarded a penalty in the 77th minute, the Forward failed to beat the goalkeeper, but he reacted quickly to convert the rebound.

Llias Chair gave Queens Park Rangers come back hope when he reduced the deficit with a minute of regulation time left, but Riley McGree quickly restored Boro’s two-goal lead in the second minute of added time.

Boro however held on for a vital win and moved within three points of second placed Sheffield United in final automatic promotion spot.
