Former Super Eagles player, Emmanuel Emenike was born on this day in 1987.

The 36-year-old began his playing career with Delta Force as a striker before moving on to play for other local clubs before finally moving to Europe.

His journey to stardom was laced with difficulty. According to the reports, he experienced hardships which began with him walking on foot to training and back for more than 90 mins.

His financial instability didn't deter him from pushing on to actualize his dreams.

Wikipedia reports that the 1.82 m (5 ft 11) striker earned his first salary when he moved to South Africa to play for Mpumalanga Black Aces.

He then moved to South African National First Division team Mpumalanga Black Aces in January 2008 and debuted against Dynamos F.C. on 17 February 2008 where he scored his first goal with the team.

He later played for several clubs in including Karabükspor, Fenerbahçe, Spartak Moscow, West Ham, and Olympiakos.

For the Super Eagles, he made 37 appearances, scoring only 9 goals.

He was part of Stephen Keshi's team that lifted the African Cup of Nations trophy in 2013.
