Real Madrid continued their impressive start to the 2023/24 La Liga season following their 1-0 victory against Celta Vigo at the Abanca Balaidos.

The victory, secured through a goal from midfielder Jude Bellingham, was not without its drawbacks for Los Blancos after star forward Vinicius Jr. asked to be substituted following a muscle problem in the 19th minute.

The injury to the young Brazilian has once again raised concerns about the club’s choice of not signing a top forward despite the departure of striker Karim Benzema.

Carlo Ancelotti in his post match press conference, took little time to dwell on the subject of Los Blancos going into the market for a new forward.

Talks of Real Madrid making a late sweep for Paris Saint Germain’s star Kylian Mbappe has remerged after the forward according to reports from Goal, turned down a contract renewal at the Ligue 1 giants.

However, when quizzed about the injury to Vinicius and the chance of Madrid signing another forward, the Italian gaffer, quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano said:

“Vinicius injury will not force us to sign players. The team is complete. We can win without Vinicius, Benzema, Courtois, Militao.
“No signings? Our attack is complete. The numbers speak for themselves. We are scoring goals without Benzema and Vinicius.”
Ancelotti’s message appears as a blow for Mbappe, who is reportedly hinging on a move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite Ancelotti’s statement, how long Vinicius Jr will remain on the treatment table could impact the club’s immediate transfer decision.
