Can Iheanacho extend goals run against Villans?

Kelechi Iheanacho will seek to extend his goalscoring run against Aston Villa when Leicester City takes on the Villans in a crucial Premier League encounter at the King Power stadium on Tuesday (today), PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Leicester, who are without a win in their last six games, sacked manager Brendan Rodgers on Sunday. They are currently placed 19th in the EPL standings with 10 games remaining in the season, while Aston Villa moved up to ninth, following Saturday’s 2-0 win at Chelsea.

The Foxes, who are in dire need of a win, will be banking on Iheanacho’s previous scoring form against the Villans to end their poor run in the EPL.

They are still the only team in the Premier League without a clean sheet since the World Cup came to a close, Leicester has conceded in each of their last 13 topflight games — including each of their last seven at the King Power stadium — a reassuring statistics against Unai Emery’s formidable attacking forces.

The 26-year-old forward, who is without a goal in his last six league games, has scored seven times against Aston Villa in 10 games (five wins, two draws and three loses).

He also has four assists against Emery’s side ahead of the fixture.

Speaking to LCFC TV, Iheanacho said, “Hopefully, we will go there and get something out of that game. We’ll do our best.

“We will stand up to it and we’ll do what we’ve been doing and be strong.”

Adam Sadler and Mike Stowell will be in charge of Leicester City, while the search for a new manager gets underway after the club parted ways with Rodgers by mutual agreement after a tumultuous four-year period in charge.
