CHAN 2024: Why Super Eagles B team lost to Senegal — Udeze

Former Nigerian international Ifeanyi Udeze has blamed the Super Eagles B team for their loss against Senegal in their opening game of the African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Nigeria got their campaign off to a disappointing start after suffering a 1–0 loss to defending champions Senegal.

Christian Gomis capitalized on a defensive error to score the only goal for the Teranga Lions with a quarter of an hour left to play.

The defeat has left Nigeria at the bottom of Group D, after Congo and Sudan played out a 1–1 draw.

Sharing his thoughts on the defeat, Udeze blamed the Super Eagles B team for displaying individual skills to impress potential suitors rather than playing as a team.

Eric Chelle must now play the role of a psychologist, he needs to tell the players to play as a team and stop playing individual football because this is a tournament,” Udeze said on Brila FM.

“They see this tournament as an opportunity to sell themselves to foreign clubs.”

Nigeria will be hoping to bounce back from the defeat when they take on Sudan in their next encounter on August 12.
