Big blow for Leone Stars as captain Bangura suspended for Eagles clash

Captain of the Leone Stars, Umaru Bangura will miss his country's 2022 African Cup of Nations qualifier second leg fixture against the Super Eagles due to suspension.

Bangura will sit out the fixture after picking up a yellow card during the first leg in Nigeria.

The experienced defender passed a late fitness test to feature in the game and his presence helped the Leone Stars pick a dramatic 8-goal thriller against the Super Eagles to keep their hopes of reaching the tournament alive, Brila.net said.

The FC Zurich’s of Switzerland defender was also booked in Sierra Leone’s away defeat to Benin Republic in Cotonou last year.

Sierra Leone will trade tackles with the Super Eagles at the Siaka Stevens Stadium, Freetown on Tuesday after clawing their way back from 4-0 down in the first half.
