Bassey has great future ahead of him - Rangers legend

Glasgow Rangers legend, Marvin Andrews is quite optimistic about the future of Super Eagles defender Calvin Bassey.

The young Nigerian international had an impressive season with the Gers last term.

The 22-year-old starred in the finals of the Europa League at the Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán Stadium in Sevilla despite his side losing the title to Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt in the shootouts.

Bassey also won the man-of-the-match award in the Scottish Cup finals when the Rangers defeated Hearts by a lone goal to win what turned out to be their only silverware of the season.

Rangers legend, Marvin Andrews believes Bassey can form a strong defensive partnership with defender Connor Goldson.

He added that the 22-year-old has a big future ahead of him if he can avoid injuries.

“It is very important, the defence,” he said “Big Goldson has been tremendous. Calvin Bassey is strong, and athletic. He’s only 22 as well.

“If he can avoid any serious injuries then he can go on to have a very big future ahead of him. There’s a bit of interest but you were going to get that. They reached a European final and made their mark.” He told Glasgow live.

Bassey made 50 appearances for the Gers last season, his impressive performance has attracted interest from several clubs in Europe.
