Former Super Eagles head coach Sunday Oliseh has slammed the Argentine national team over their unsportsmanlike behaviour in the aftermath of the FIFA World Cup final.

La Albiceleste lost by a lone goal to Spain at the New York New Jersey Stadium on Sunday, July 19, courtesy of Ferran Torres' strike in extra time.

The World Cup final was marred by scuffles between some Argentina players and their Spanish counterparts after the final whistle went.

Leandro Paredes attacked Spain's Eric Garcia and Gavi, while Argentina's assistant coach Roberto Ayala also assaulted Dani Olmo.

Speaking on the Global Football Insights show, Oliseh lambasted the Argentine team for what he described as a "bad advertisement for football."

"Thank God that Spain won the World Cup on Sunday," the former Nigerian international said.

"I'm telling you, for the interest of football, it was important because the team came out playing positive football, winning the World Cup. Because the negative football that the Argentines put out, it is a bad advertisement for football.

"When I saw Argentina players fighting after the game when the game was over, you don't fight your opponent after the World Cup final. I just think it is great that Spain won," he said.
