Awoniyi targets more goals for Union Berlin

Nigerian & Union Berlin striker, Taiwo Awoniyi is confident his newly-promoted side can cause an upset in the Bundesliga this season.

Union Berlin have impressed beyond expectations this season as they strive for a Europa League place.

This is their second season in the top league.

With Awoniyi a key member of the side, Union finished a comfortable 11th place in the league last season, beating Borussia Dortmund early on

The Nigerian has netted five times in his last seven Bundesliga matches, according to Complete Sports.

After getting a goal and an assist in the Matchday 14 win at Werder Bremen, Awoniyi says his focus is on helping the team first.

“For me it’s always about the team,” he told bundesliga.com when asked about his recent form.

“Always fighting, working, doing everything for the team. And for a striker, I believe once you put that first, the rest of the things will come.”
