Nigeria head coach Eric Sekou Chelle is reportedly in a dilemma over whether to start Coventry City striker Taiwo Awoniyi against Guinea-Bissau or introduce him from the bench.

The 29-year-old was enterprising for the Super Eagles in their 2-1 win against Madagascar last Friday following his introduction into the game.

The former Nottingham Forest man replaced debutant George Ilenikhena in the 69th minute and put up quite a decent performance for the team.

As cited by OwnGoalNigeria, Awoniyi’s link-up play was brilliant, as he won several duels and also tracked back to help the team defensively.

According to the report, Awoniyi has made a strong case for a starting spot in the team, judging from his performance in the final 20 minutes of the game against Madagascar.

This, as per the report, gives Chelle a selection headache, as he has to decide who to start between Ilenikhena, who had an impressive debut, and Awoniyi, whose performance off the bench was solid.

It remains to be seen how things will pan out when the Malian tactician unveils his starting line-up an hour before the game.

Also, the team's training session at the Estádio Nacional 24 de Setembro will inform Chelle's final decision.
