Super Falcons defender Ashleigh Plumptre has responded to whether she could marry a Nigerian man during a trip to Lagos after WAFCON 2025.
Plumptre featured in all matches as Nigeria conquered women's football in Africa for a record-extending 10th time, beating hosts Morocco in the final.
She returned to Nigeria with the team after their victory, during which President Bola Ahmed Tinubu conferred national honours on the team and gave them cash gifts.
Plumptre speaks about marrying a Nigerian man
Plumptre spent time in Nigeria after the WAFCON triumph, during which she visited different places with her father, Tim Plumptre, including media houses.
The Al-Ittihad defender, during a session on Lagos Talks Sports Zone, was asked about her relationship status and whether she can marry a Nigerian man.
“I get asked questions like this all the time,” she said.
“No, I'm 27, and I've not even… that's not even anything in my mind right now. I mean, I don't even have any time.”
“I mean, do you know what? To hear this question when I'm sat next to my dad is a kind of funny situation,” she added.
Plumptre's response has got fans talking on social media.

“She should be married at 27. Why the delay? Don't wait until the womb is fried and pregnancy now appears to look like a chore.”
