Manchester City held on desperately for a 1-0 win at Leeds on Saturday.
For the opening 20 minutes, Pep Guardiola’s men were under the cosh at Elland Road, as the hosts began the game intensely.
However, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Aaronson flunked their best chances, while Antoine Semenyo grabbed the winner before half time.
The result means City are now two points behind Arsenal.
But the Gunners will have the chance to re-establish a five-point gap again when they host Chelsea on Sunday.
Mikel Arteta’s men did it last week, after City beat Newcastle 2-1 at the Etihad. They went to Tottenham and hammered them 4-1, with Viktor Gyokeres and Eberechi Eze scoring twice each.
Arsenal will need to repeat the same trick against another London rival. And obviously, Chelsea will be tougher opponents for the league leaders.
So, a win against the Blues will be a bigger statement than the North London Derby rout.
For Liam Rosenior, his team is beginning to lose pace in the race to finish in Champions League places.
Liverpool demolished West Ham 5-2 on Saturday and are three points ahead of Chelsea.
Manchester United could go six points clear of Chelsea if they see off Crystal Palace on Sunday.
This game at the Emirates will be pivotal to two ambitions.
For Chelsea, they need the points as they chase Champions League football for next year.
And for Arsenal, this one is important for the homestretch, with City breathing down their necks.
