Mikel Arteta's men were defeated 3-0 at the Etihad by Manchester City as the Premier League season resumes on Wednesday.

The Gunners played Pep Guardiola's men behind closed doors as fans remained banned from stadiums due to COVID-19 pandemic that suspended the league since mid-March.

The Citizens took the lead in the 45+2 minute through Raheem Sterling giving the home side the first-half lead.

City capped their performance with two more goals in the second half courtesy Kevin De Bruyne's 51' penalty as a result of David Luiz's foul on Riyad Mahrez.

Luis was shown a red-card immediately, reducing the Gunners to 10 men.

Phil Foden scored City's third goal in the 90+2 minute after Aguero's effort hits the post, only to fall to the legs of the youngster who simply slotted in.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa and Sheffield United played a goalless draw in the opening game of the Project Restart.
