Supporters of the opposition of the Labour Party took to social media to slam the presidential candidate of the party over his erroneous tweet on the Super Falconets World Cup campaign.

In a tweet to acknowledge the effort of the Falconets in Costa Rica, Obi indicated that the team was eliminated in the semi-finals stage - which isn't a statement of fact.

His error was pointed out by a tweep who called out Obi for always propagating falsehood.

The inaccurate tweet reads: “Our dear Super Falconets put up a decent game and fought gallantly at the ongoing Under 20 Women's World Cup in Costa Rica, until they were knocked out at the semi-finals stage, by the Netherlands."

Despite deleting the previous tweet and rectifying the error with a new tweet, Peter Obi is being dragged on the micro-blogging platforms by persons who oppose his candidacy. A preview of their avatar shows they are loyalists of Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar.

The Falconets arrived in Nigeria on Thursday, August 25 following their elimination from the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup currently underway in Costa Rica.

The team got knocked out by the Netherlands on Sunday after they lost by two unanswered goals against the Dutch in the quarter-finals stage following a brilliant 100 percent record in the group phase.

“We salute the players, the coaching crew and the technical team for their efforts and deep sacrifices. I hope that with our planned investment in sports, the team will be more formidable to do better in the future,” he said in the latest tweet.
