Ancelotti breaks Alex Ferguson's Champions League record for wins by a Manager

Real Madrid enjoyed a stellar evening on Wednesday, securing a 3-0 victory against Braga at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium and notching their fourth consecutive win in this season's UEFA Champions League.

This triumph also guaranteed their qualification for the knockout stages. The match against Braga unfolded as a routine affair for Los Blancos but held special significance for their manager, Carlo Ancelotti.

According to Real Madrid's official website, the victory marked Ancelotti's 116th win in the Champions League, establishing a new record for the most victories by a coach in the competition.

According to Relevo, via Football Espana, the previous record was jointly held by the Italian and legendary former Manchester United manager, Sir Alex Ferguson - each boasting 115 victories.

However, with Real Madrid's triumph over Braga, Ancelotti now stands alone as the record-holder.

While this achievement is undoubtedly remarkable, the coach is likely to remain focused on guiding Real Madrid through what appears to be his final season in charge at the club, prioritising success on the field over personal accolades.

The record 14-time UCL winners reached the Champions League last 16 on Wednesday with a comfortable 3-0 win over Braga to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Brahim Diaz, Vinicius Junior, and Rodrygo de Goes all scored for Real Madrid as they secured advancement from Group C, with Jude Bellingham rested for the tie.

Los Blancos are topping their group with 12 points. Napoli trails behind in second place with seven points after their 1-1 draw against bottom-placed Union Berlin.

Sports Brief previously reported on Real Madrid legend, Raul Gonzalez not being optimistic about succeeding Ancelotti as manager at the Spanish club despite being among the top contenders.

Jose Mourinho, Xabi Alonso, and Zinedine Zidane are among the others currently being considered as possible successors to the veteran Italian boss, whose deal expires at the end of the season.
