In Tokyo, Nigeria’s Tobi Amusan soared into the final of the women’s 100 metres hurdles at the World Athletics Championships, cementing her place after a commanding semifinal run on Monday.
The 28-year-old blazing across the track in 12.36 seconds, outpacing her rivals Nadine Visser of the Netherlands, who finished in 12.45 seconds, and Poland’s Pia Skrzyszowska with a time of 12.51 seconds.
Positioned in lane four, Amusan faced a formidable lineup that included Visser—fresh off a personal best of 12.28 seconds—and season-best performers Skrzyszowska and American Alaysha Johnson, who had clocked 12.32 this year.
