UD Almeria head coach, Rubi wants Super Eagles striker Sadiq Umar to remain at the club amid transfer speculations linking the forward with a move away from the newly promoted La Liga side.

The 25-year-old has been linked with a move to La Liga clubs, Villarreal and Sevilla.

Villarreal wants the gangling Super Eagles striker as a potential replacement for Nigerian-born Arnaut Danjuma who is on West Ham's radar.

Sevilla on the other side of the coin wants the former Roma forward as a possible replacement for Youssef En-Nesyri who is rumoured to exit the club in this current transfer window.

Other reports have linked the Super Eagles forward to Benfica and Ajax as a potential replacement for Sebastian Haller and Darwin Nunez respectively.

Despite the interest from several clubs, UD Almeria coach Rubi has expressed his wish to see Sadiq continue with the club.

"Our dream as a staff would be for Sadiq to continue with the team in the First Division because I think his performance could be better than in the Second Division, simply because of a space issue, with the possibility of running, he will do a lot of damage," Rubi told Dario de Almeria.

He however added that Sadiq could leave Almeria if the club receives a good offer for the forward.

"I think he will be there, and if in the end, he is not, it is because the club understands that the economic part is good enough to allocate that money to bring a footballer in that position and one or another situation or help leave a fantastic field," he said.

Sadiq was instrumental to UD Almeria's promotion to La Liga, the forward netted 18 goals and provided 12 assists for the Andalusian outfit.
