Akpoguma suffers heavy home defeat with Hoffenheim

It was a tough weekend for Kevin Akpoguma as Hoffenheim suffered a 3-1 home defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.

Akpoguma was on from start to finish and was yellow carded five minutes after the break. The defender has now featured in 16 league games for Hoffenheim this season.

Akpoguma and his teammates struggled to cope with the attacking flows of Xabi Alonso’s men all through the game and looked like they would concede any time they are under attack.

Robert Andrich grabbed the opener for Leverkusen just 6 minutes in, then Moussa Diaby made it 2-0 in added time, with Adam Hlocek netting the third six minutes after the restart.

French defender Stanley Nsoki scored Hoffenheim’s consolation in the 77th minute.

Pellegrino Matarazzo’s side are still without a win in the Bundesliga this year.
