Eredivisie giants Ajax have shown their solidarity with former Nigerian international Tijani Babangida, who lost his son and brother in a tragic accident.
In a heartwarming gesture, Ajax launched a crowdfunding initiative to support Babangida, who was invited to the club's league clash against Almere City FC on Sunday, December 15.
In attendance was veteran manager Louis van Gaal, who coached Babangida during his time at Ajax.
Babangida watched the game from the Royal Box in the Johan Cruijff Arena alongside Van Gaal, as de Godenzonen thumped the away side 3-0 to the delight of the home supporters.
A video highlighting the Support Baba crowdfunding initiative for Babangida was displayed on the big screens at the Johan Cruijff Arena.
Babangida and Van Gaal were presented with a piece of art to commemorate a legendary moment involving the two.
The artwork captured Babangida's celebratory moment after scoring a goal in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League quarter-final in March 1997.
