Agbaje prepares for first fight in UK

National boxing featherweight champion, Taiwo Agbaje, says he is ready to make Nigeria proud as he eagerly looks forward to his first professional fight in the UK at the University of Bolton stadium after being out of the ring for a long time.

Agbaje, popularly known as ‘Esepo’, last fought in December 2019 due to a ban on sporting activities following the outbreak of coronavirus in Nigeria, before his move to England last year. Agbaje is now due to have his fight on Sunday, September 26 and the boxer told The PUNCH he was eagerly looking forward to it.

He said, “I am really anxious right now and can’t wait to have my first professional fight here in the Uk.“I have been training so hard because it’s been a while I last took on an opponent but I am confident that I will do what I know how to do best.

“It’s going to be a tough one but I want to give it my best because this is not just about me anymore, I am flying Nigeria’s flag here and I am going to do everything to make the country proud of me.”
