The Flying Eagles, Nigeria's Under-20 team started their tournament at the All African Games on a bad note as they suffered a 2-1 loss to the Hippos of Uganda at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Flying Eagles were the favorite to win the game but struggled to have a grasp of the fixture as the Hippos got the opener in the 34th minute.

Ibrahim Abdullahi's failure to clear a long floated ball allowed Uganda's Kiza Usman to run at the Nigerian defense and once he entered the box he just placed a well-taken shot beyond Samuel James to give the Hippos the lead.

The Flying Eagles got the equalizer three minutes later when Isiyaka reacted first to a corner from the left of Nigeria's attack and guided the ball into the net with a nice header.

The Flying Eagles failed to capitalize on its dominance in the early minutes of the second half leaving the game open to both sides.

The Flying Eagles eventually got punished as Ivan Irinimbabazi drilled in a wicked shot from over 25 years to give Uganda the lead again in the 81st minute.
