Israel Adesanya has moved up in with class in a bid to become a UFC two-weight division champion.

The Last Style Bender will challenge Jan Blachowicz who defeated Dominick Reyes for the vacant light heavyweight title, the same night Israel outclassed unbeaten Paulo Costa.

It has been confirmed that the fight will hold on March 6, 2020, in a UFC 259 pay-per-view event with the location and venue yet to be announced.

The fight will be Blachowicz's first title defense following a TKO win over Reyes at UFC 253 while Adesanya will be attempting the impossible as he moves up to 250 pounds weight category.

The Polish Power recorded knockout victories over Corey Anderson and Luke Rockhold in the build-up of becoming champion after the undefeated Jon Jones vacated the title.

On the other hand, Adesanya who has a 20-0 MMA record has kept a clean record since becoming the undisputed middleweight champion and has successfully defended the belt against Yoel Romero and Costa.

The Nigerian-born New Zealand fighter became the interim champion with a victory over Kevin Gastelum and put away Robert Whittaker in a unification bout in 2019.

Adesanya's clash with Blachowicz will write his name in the history books if he captures the lightweight belt and the 31-year-old has also revealed plans to move up into the heavyweight category in the future.
