Odion Ighalo has named Ademola Lookman as his best Super Eagles player at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The Atalanta forward has been involved in seven goals in just three appearances in the competition for Eric Chelle's side.
With three goals and four assists, only Morocco's Brahim Diaz has scored more goals (4) than the 28-year-old.
Lookman has also clinched two Player of the Match awards in the tournament, with his last award coming in Nigeria's 4-0 demolition of Mozambique in the round of 16.
Speaking as a pundit on SuperSport, Ighalo, who was the top scorer at the 2019 AFCON, picked the former Leicester City star as the Super Eagles’ top performer at the tournament.
“I like the way he positions himself when the ball is on his side,” Ighalo said.
“If he’s not running along the wing to pass the ball, he’s always in the box and near the goal.
“When the opportunity comes, he always grabs it, and that’s one thing I really like about him. He’s one of the best players on that team.”
The Super Eagles will face Algeria in the quarter-final on Saturday, January 9.
